Run by The Lawyer, these are among the most prestigious and closely watched awards in the UK legal sector, recognising standout work across firms, teams and individuals.

Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards

About the Award & Hosts

Run by Birmingham Law Society, the largest local law society outside London. Now in their 24th year, the awards celebrate the best legal talent across Birmingham and the West Midlands. For 2026 the awards were, for the first time, open exclusively to Birmingham Law Society members. Nominations are assessed by an independent panel drawn from law, business and academia.

What categories are up for winning?

14 categories spanning individuals, teams and firms — including Law Firm of the Year (1–49 employees), Law Firm of the Year (50+ employees), the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award, the Pro Bono Award, and a range of individual and rising-star honours.

What to expect at the ceremony

A black-tie evening at the ICC, hosted in 2026 by radio personality PJ Ellis, bringing the regional profession together to celebrate the shortlist and winners.

How to enter: Via Birmingham Law Society (members only for the 2026 cycle). The awards return annually.

British Conveyancing Awards

About the Award & Hosts

Now in their sixth year, the British Conveyancing Awards are organised by Today’s Media, publishers of Today’s Conveyancer, with Groundsure as headline sponsor. The awards recognise the work of conveyancers across the country and in 2026 welcomed over 400 professionals from across the property sector.

What categories are up for winning?

A broad set of awards covering conveyancing firms, individual conveyancers, support teams and sector suppliers across the conveyancing and property industry.

What to expect at the ceremony

A gala dinner in the striking setting of Manchester Cathedral, combining recognition with networking across the conveyancing and property community.

About the Award & Hosts

Run by LexisNexis and often described as the “Oscars of the legal world”, these awards celebrate achievement and innovation across the profession. A key principle is that entries are judged on evidence, impact and integrity – not on the size or reputation of the firm – making them genuinely open to smaller and regional practices.

What categories are up for winning?

24 categories, including the prestigious Halsbury Award for Rule of Law, a lifetime contribution award, plus business development, chambers, law firm, costs, case of the year, trainee scheme, in-house team and pro bono awards.

What to expect at the ceremony

A black-tie dinner bringing together leaders and rising stars from across the profession. New Law Journal readers can vote for the Legal Personality of the Year.

How to enter: Online submission of up to 750 words (excluding supporting evidence) as a PDF, with up to three supporting documents. Entries typically open in the autumn.

Cambridgeshire Law Society Legal Excellence Awards

About the Award & Hosts

The flagship Annual Gala Dinner and Legal Excellence Awards of Cambridgeshire Law Society, open to members of the county’s legal community. The 2026 charity partner is The Red Hen Project, a hyper-local family support charity.

A range of individual, team and firm awards recognising achievement across the Cambridgeshire legal community.

What to expect at the ceremony

A black-tie gala dinner in the historic surroundings of Queen’s College — a long-running highlight of the regional calendar.

Women and Diversity in Law Awards

About the Award & Hosts

Celebrating women and diversity across the UK legal sector. The 2026 cycle drew around 350 entries, with roughly 170 individuals shortlisted. Open to anyone working in any capacity in the UK legal sector who meets the category criteria.

What categories are up for winning?

31 categories, including Woman of the Year, Law Firm Leader of the Year, Mentor of the Year and Unsung Hero, grouped across Outstanding Women Leaders, Outstanding Women Practitioners and an open Diversity and Inclusion section. Rising-star categories are reserved for lawyers with no more than six years’ post-qualification experience.

What to expect at the ceremony

An awards ceremony at the Grosvenor Square Marriott bringing together shortlisted individuals, teams and businesses.

How to enter: Nominate yourself or others via the online form; individuals may enter a maximum of three categories. The awards return annually.

About the Award & Hosts

Established in 2013 and run by Charlton Grant under the Modern Law banner, with Clio as title sponsor. The awards celebrate innovation and excellence across the UK legal industry, with a strong following among ambitious independent and regional firms.

A wide range of team and individual awards, including Conveyancing Team, Corporate & Commercial Team, Employment Team, Family Law Team and Wills/Probate/Estates Team of the Year, among many others.

What to expect at the ceremony

A black-tie dinner and ceremony, hosted in 2026 by barrister-turned-broadcaster Rob Rinder MBE.

How to enter: Entry is a single fee of £195 (ex VAT), which allows your firm to enter an unlimited number of categories via the online nomination portal. The rewards return annually.

Now in their third year, run by The Legal 500. The awards focus specifically on environmental, social and governance achievement across private practice, in-house teams and the Bar.

What to expect at the ceremony

An evening ceremony at the InterContinental Park Lane recognising the year’s ESG shortlist and winners.

A brand-new addition for 2026, bringing together conveyancers, legal experts, housebuilders, PropTech specialists and suppliers from across the property ecosystem. The charity partner is The Conveyancing Foundation, and entries were assessed by a panel of 13 judges from across the legal, new-homes, property and conveyancing sectors.

Awards spanning the conveyancing and wider property sector, recognising innovation, technical expertise and client experience.

What to expect at the ceremony

A lively evening of celebration and entertainment — the inaugural 2026 event hosted by comedian and writer Lou Sanders, with over 300 professionals attending and a DJ set to close.

About the Award & Hosts

Run by Legal Cheek and built on the findings of its annual Trainee & Junior Lawyer and Barrister surveys. Held alongside the LegalEdCon 2026 conference, the awards focus on the trainee, junior lawyer and student experience.

What categories are up for winning?

20+ categories drawn from the surveys, with firm and chambers longlists published ahead of the event.

What to expect at the ceremony

An informal evening event at Kings Place, popular with aspiring and junior lawyers.

How to enter: Unlike most awards, there is no conventional written submission — recognition is driven by survey responses and the resulting longlists. Firms and chambers feature by performing well in the surveys.

About the Award & Hosts

Run by Claims Media, the awards bring together insurers, brokers, MGAs, law firms, claims specialists and service providers from across the UK claims sector. Finalists are selected following judging by an independent panel of respected industry figures.

Manchester Legal Awards

About the Award & Hosts

Launched by Manchester Law Society in 2010 and now in their 17th year, these awards celebrate the best legal talent across the North West. They attract over 200 entries each year and around 650 attendees. You do not need to be a Manchester Law Society member to enter, and entry is free for all.

What categories are up for winning?

3 categories covering all areas of law — individuals, teams, firms and chambers of all sizes. These include Barrister/KC of the Year, Crime Team, Employment Team, Family Law Team, Partner of the Year, Private Client Team, Regulatory Team, the Trainee/Paralegal/Apprentice/Legal Executive of the Year, plus EDI, CSR, wellbeing and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

What to expect at the ceremony

A glittering black-tie dinner with around 650 guests. Tickets are approximately £130 + VAT each, with tables of 10 (and a limited number of 12).

How to enter: Free entry — you can enter yourself or nominate a colleague. Every entry is read and marked by a judging panel against four criteria (up to 10 marks each), with the highest-scoring entries shortlisted and interviewed on Judging Day. The awards return annually.

Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year (LALYs) Awards

About the Award & Hosts

Organised by the Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG), the LALYs recognise the dedication of legal aid lawyers and support staff across England and Wales who deliver publicly funded legal services, often in challenging circumstances.

10 categories spanning different areas of legal aid practice, plus awards recognising support staff and outstanding individual contributions.

What to expect at the ceremony

An evening ceremony celebrating publicly funded legal work and the people who sustain access to justice.
